It all started with a simple message on social media. A favorite photo of mine from a sunrise hike in the Rockies a couple of years ago had caught the eye of Christina Hull, an artist from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She reached out, expressing her admiration for the photo and proposed a collaboration. She wanted to use the photo below, entitled “Sunrise Trail”, as a reference for her next painting, capturing its essence on canvas through her own interpretation. Intrigued by the idea, I agreed. Christina shared her vision for the painting: switching a few things up including painting it as a 36″x36″ square, but keeping it a close representation of the original. I couldn’t wait to see how my work would be transformed through her artistic lens.
In no time at all she finished the painting and, as you can see below, the end result was amazing. The details and colors are spectacular and the brushstrokes brought a new dimension to the scene, adding texture and depth not seen in the photograph. This was a fun, creative collaboration with Christina that reflects the power of art to connect people, even from different corners of the world. Christina is an excellent artist with some truly beautiful paintings. Be sure to check out her work at www.christinahullart.com or @christinahullart on Facebook or Instagram.
