I am pleased to announce that my American Southwest landscape photograph of Horseshoe Bend titled “Bending River” won second place in the “Stunning Landscape” photo contest held by Pictures2Win.com.
As it makes its way south and west toward the Grand Canyon, the Colorado River flows around the distinctive Horseshoe Bend near Page, Arizona. A short hike from the trailhead brings you to the edge of the canyon and a striking view of Horseshoe Bend and the Colorado River 1,000 feet below. This very poplar area has been photographed countless times, typically with a wide angle view showing the full width of the bend in the river. For a more unique perspective I chose a different viewpoint which captures both the bend in the river and the dramatic cliff jutting over the water.
