Amazing Wildflower Adventure in Texas Hill Country

I recently returned from a perfect wildflower adventure in the Texas Hill Country. On a spring road trip across the wide open spaces of the state of Texas with my family we took time out to search for the world famous Texas bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, and other spring wildflowers.  While nothing says spring in Texas like the bluebonnets, paintbrushes, and other familiar wildflowers, the arrival and location of the wildflowers is not an exact science. Weather and other factors play a part in when and where these stunning wildflower displays will pop up each spring.  We avoided the well traveled interstates and kept to the smaller back country roads in the Texas Hill Country, like Texas Highway 16 around Fredricksburg and Texas Highway 29 through Llano and Burnett, and were not disappointed.  The combination of warm weather and rainfall so far this year has produced a vibrant and picturesque season for wildflowers along the Hill Country fields and roadsides.  The Texas bluebonnet photograph above was captured near Llano and Burnett along Highway 29.

Along with the breathtaking wildflower views, the back roads of the Hill Country of Texas provided some other unique photo opportunities. Below are two close-up photographs of an ancient Ford pick up truck left to weather and rust in a Texas roadside field.  The peeling paint, interesting rust patterns, and close-up perspective made for a unique photograph of this old rusty Ford truck.
