Clouds Part Over the Canyon
Driving through Grand Canyon National Park on a November afternoon, I ran into an unexpected storm, heavy rain, hail, and snow at the higher elevations. With little time left in the park that day, I worried the weather would cost me the shot entirely. I waited out the worst of it, and during a brief clearing, captured the canyon and the retreating storm clouds lit by late afternoon light. The image, along with the story of how it came together, was featured in the July 2017 issue of Outdoor Photographer Magazine.
