I am thrilled to have my abstract landscape photo of the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National published in the July 2016 issue of Practical Photography Magazine. While on vacation in Jackson, Wyoming my wife and I ventured up to Yellowstone National Park for a quick day trip. We had seen beautiful photos of the rainbow coloration of the Grand Prismatic Spring and it was high on our list to visit. However, as we arrived the hot spring was all but completely obscured by the steam rising from it. Instead of the landscape image I had planned on, I focused on the terraced volcanic rock surrounding the spring. This rock is streaked with dramatic colors and textures, allowing for a unique landscape photo composition of this well-known location.
